SADIQABAD - In compliance with the directives of the inspector general of police and the regional police officer, the districts’ police have appointed physicians at the Police Lines’ hospitals of Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.

Similarly, Dr Syed Tanveer Shah and Dr Atif Mehmood had been appointed at the Police Lines of districts Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar for morning and evening shifts respectively.

One month ago, Punjab IGP Javed Iqbal had issued orders to set up or make functional hospitals in the Police Lines of all the districts in the province. Following the directives, Bahawalpur RPO Captain (r) Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri referred the directives to the DPO who appointed Basharat Ali as homeo physician in the police hospital and reinstated the homeo department in the hospital.

Later, the newly-appointed physician called on Prof Abdul Kareem and Ejaz Zaidi and was assured by them that policemen and their families would be provided all kinds of medical facilities under one roof in line with Sheikh Khalifa Health Centre.

The facilities, they added, would include ECG, ultrasound, x-ray, laboratory, emergency, and homeopathic and herbal departments.

They added that after the finalisation of the plan, the IGP, the RPO and the medical superintendent of the Sheikh Zayed Medical College would be invited to the police hospital. Moreover, they said, a dispatch had been sent to the MS for posting of more staff in the police facility, adding that round the clock medical service would be provided for the law-enforcers and their families.
