KARACHI – Star-studded Wapda recorded the biggest winning margin of the underway 59th National Hockey Championship when they routed PAF 6-1 in the 10-team single league competition here on Saturday at Hockey Club of Pakistan.

The winners led 3-0 half time and added three more in the second session during which the airmen also scored a consolation goal.  After initial forays in opponents’ territory, Wapda opening scoring in seventh minute through Imran Khan who converted a penalty corner and in the 15th minute, Aleem Bilal made it 2-0 through PC. Just five minutes from short break, M Imran made the score 3-0.  Waqas Shariff got two goals in 45th and 48th minute and Wapda skipper Rehan Butt completed the score line in 67th minute. PAF’s only goal came in 50th minute through Ijaz.  In other two matches of the day, Army put up good show to beat Port Qasim 4-1 and NBP beat PHF Academy 3-0.
