Rawalpindi - A divisional bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) deferred the hearing till February 2 in Shaukat Aziz attack case.

The divisional bench comprising Justice Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Justice Sikandar Zulqarnain Saleem conducted hearing in the pleas of the seven accused filed against the verdict of an anti-terrorism court and set February 2 the next date of hearing.A suicide bomber had blown himself up when Shaukat Aziz was leaving after addressing a public meeting during election campaign in Fateh Jang in 2004.

In the suicide attack, Shaukat Aziz remained unhurt but 7 other people were killed and 45 sustained critical injuries. Police rounded up some seven terrorists in connection with the brazen attack and produced them before an anti-terrorism court. The anti-terrorism court convicted the seven accused and awarded them death penalties, besides life imprisonment. The accused approached LHC challenging the verdict of ATC. The seven accused, arrested by Fateh Jang police, included Nasir Ahmed, Maulvi Siddique, Qari Ahmed Khan, Abdul Mateen, Qari Abdul Basit, Qari Salman and Noor Badshah.
