LAHORE - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf filed a petition on Wednesday in the Election Tribunal praying strict action against Commission head Ghulam Hussain Awan for giving statements to the media over the alleged rigging in NA-122 poll.

Advocate Anees Ali Hashmi, PTI chief Imran Khan’s counsel, submitted that Ghulam Hussain created controversy by giving statements to the media.

He quoted two lines from the commission head whereby he had claimed “he did not find any forged vote in inspection but some irregularities”.

Talking to media on Jan 24, Awan had said if tribunal declared the irregularities unlawful then the election may affect.

He had also said that there were some irregularities in the polling record they found during inspection process. Responding to a query regarding either he found forged votes in the polling record or in his opinion the elections were rigged, he replied that he did not find any bogus vote and did not see any rigging.
