PESHAWAR - Police thwarted a major sabotage bid by defusing five pressure cooker bombs in jurisdiction of Phando Police station on Thursday.
SHO Phando Police station told media persons that the explosives were planted below pylons of high transmission electric line in Jamil square area jurisdiction of Phando Police station.
The explosives packed in cookers were connected with remote control devices.
Police said that if the planted device were exploded it could cause major losses to the high electric transmission line in the area however bomb disposal squad timely defused all the planted devices.
Meanwhile Nasir Bagh police also launched search operation in Regi area under the supervision of SP Cantt Kashif and nabbed around 34 suspected persons including 12 Afghan nationals and recovered weapons from their possession. The operation was launched in the wake of possible threats to educational institution after Bacha Khan University attack in Charsadda.
During search operation police recovered three repeaters, five pistols and one short machine gun.
It is to be mentioned here that on Wednesday security forces has also sized huge caches of weapons and imported guns in a warehouse on GT road while police personnel was also targeted in jurisdiction of Khazana Police station.
