islamabad - The Minister for State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal directed to suspend two nurses and issue show cause notices to two deputy directors for not maintaining hygiene and quality standards at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The CADD minister during his visit yesterday directed the PIMS administration to issue show cause notice to Deputy Directors Emergency Ward Zulfikar Ghauri and Deputy Director Outpatient Department Muthahir Shah for not maintaining standards of cleanliness, substandard and lack of medicines, and not disposing of used syringes. Two nurses of emergency ward were also suspended for not complying with the safety measures as the minister found them not properly disposing of syringes.

The minister who was visiting his mother-in-law and a nephew admitted to the PIMS took a round of the hospital for almost two hours. He visited various wards and departments and talked to the patients. Annoyed over the substandard conditions of the emergency and some other wards, the minister directed Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Akram to suspended two nurses and issue warning to the concerned deputy directors.

Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University VC D. Javed Akram said the officials have been issued warning and suspension orders and an inquiry will be conducted into the issue.
