KARACHI - Rangers yesterday intercepted Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader, Wasay Jalil, for questioning.
According to details, Jalil who had recently returned from the United Kingdom went to Karachi Chamber of Commerce where officials of paramilitary troops intercepted him and released him after a brief questioning that lasted around one hour.
Reportedly, Jalil was questioned over several issues, including the matters related to his last tenure in the local government and London affairs. However, MQM remained tightlipped on the issue while Rangers spokesperson also did not comment upon the brief detention of the MQM leaders.
It’s worth mentioning here that Wasay Jalil left the country when the Karachi operation geared up against MQM and returned a couple of weeks earlier. Sources privy to the matter revealed Jalil came back to the country to get the slot of district east chairman while MQM has yet to announce any role for Jalil in the local bodies.
It’s believed that the Rangers again has boosted up the operation after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif vowed to go to any extent for a secure and terror-free Karachi to ensure a peaceful and fearless routine daily life for the people of the city.
