CJP summons record of Memogate case from registrar office

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has sought Memogate case record from registrar office during the course of hearing of overseas employees voting right case here.

While summoning Memogate record, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked “ will the facility of casting vote be provided to Hussain Haqqani. As to why notice is not issued to Hussain Haqqani so that he should return to Pakistan and face Memogate case.

He remarked PTI which claims to be the supporter of overseas Pakistanis was where on the occasion of approval of electoral reforms act.Why it did not raise this matter in assembly.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing Overseas Pakistanis voting right case Monday. 

CJP observed, its motive is to provide the facility of casting vote to overseas Pakistanis. However, there is such a Pakistani who has not returned to Pakistan after making such promise to the court. Will the facility to cast vote be provided to Hussain Haqqani.

As to why Hussain Haqqani should not be summoned through notice so that he could face Memogate case. CJP sought Memogate case file from registrar office.

Informing the court about his contacts with the election commission, Chairman NADRA said the software will be developed in the beginning of April. The experiment will be made thereon.

Terming the development of software in the month of April a good news, CJP directed election commission to hold a meeting with NADRA. The court while seeking progress report within a month from NADRA in connection with the development of software adjourned the hearing of the case.
