ISLAMABAD- The Establishment Division has issued the termination order of Executive Director Lok Virsa, Uxi Mufti on Monday and replaced him with Senior Director Lock Virsa, Mazharul Islam as its new boss. Executive Director of Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage), Uxi Mufti had been removed from his services on July 26. He had been getting extension since last eight years and his contract would have expired by December 2008. "Lok Virsa is moving away from its basic objectives. Moreover, Uxi Mufti continuously managed to get extension since last eight years, which was not according to government rules", While giving reason of termination of ED sources informed on condition of anonymity. He further continued that being a Project Director of National Monument Museum he was constantly delaying opening of this project. The Establishment Division Monday issued order the appointment of new ED, Mazhar-Ul-Islam along with termination order of ex-ED Uxi Mufti. Mazhar-Ul-Islam was working in Lok Virsa since 1974.Initially he was appointed in Lok Virsa as a Director Publication. During his career he wrote eight books. At present he performs his duties as a Senior Director looking after Norwegian grant. When contacted by TheNation Mazhar-Ul-Islam said, "I have been associated with this organization from last many years, Lok Virsa is not only an esteemed institution for endorsement of cultural activities but it is also imperative source of earning for many people and I have so many plans for promotion of local culture, especially for betterment of its workers. 'Lok Virsa', (Cultural Heritage) also known as the National Institute of Folk Heritage, located near Shakarparian Hills, contentedly preserves the living folk and traditional culture of Pakistan and has a large display of embroidered costumes, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, block printing, ivory and bone work which depicts the past and present cultural traits of Pakistani society.
