DASKA - There was high flood in River Chenab at Head Marala near Sialkot here on Wednesday. However, the situation remained under control. According to the senior officials of irrigation department, the flow of water was 24,9670 cusec at Head Marala here. They said that the water level was continuously soaring up in Chenab due to the ongoing fresh spell of heavy rains in the region. Three villages were inundated due to flood near Bajwat while in 13 villages, the standing paddy and other seasonal crops on hundreds of the acres of land were inundated due to the spate in the flooded River Tavi near Saidpur-Bajwat here. Local people have started shifting towards the safer places. The officials added that the relief operation was continued in these flood-hit villages, as no demise was reported. The torrential rains and clouds have revived the life around the River Chenab, as a rush of the people was witnessed at Head Marala to see the high waves of flood water there.
