KARACHI - The Karachi University Officers Welfare Association (KUOWA) has demanded of the government to direct the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to immediately release Karachi Universitys ad hoc grant to counter financial crises facing by the KU employees. The President of KUOWA Muhammad Tahir Khan and General Secretary Muham-mad Arif said Karachi University could not release the 50 per cent increase in salary amount in current month to the employees and professors of the university, as the HEC had seized the funds of the varsity. They said the ad hoc relief fund was announced by the government, which had already been issued in all the government institutions but the employers of the KU were still deprived of the funds which was causing frustration among the teachers and the employees. They demanded that Governor Sindh should use their influence and direct the HEC to release the grant so that the employees of Karachi University could perform their duties in better circumstances and ward off their unbearable financial crisis.
