Two patients lose eyesight

MULTAN
Two patients out of 13 admitted to the Eye Ward of Nishtar Hospital after allegedly were administered substandard injection (dexamethason) at DHQ Hospital Layyah, have lost eyesight completely.
Eye Specialist at Nishtar Hospital Dr Imran Yawar told the official news agency on Sunday that 13 patients including four men and nine women were brought to Nishtar Hospital from DHQ Hospital Layyah in critical condition. He added the patients underwent surgery after collection of specimens and 11 patients were stable while two patients had lost their eyesight completely as they were affected badly.
Amongst the stable patients, three patients would recover 100 percent because they are young and had enough immunity to fight the disease. The other patients will also recover but with weak eyesight, he added. About the reasons behind the incident, he said that a health department team was investigating it. He, however, added that the patients suffered due to allegedly substandard injection.
