MULTAN-The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has welcomed Supreme Court’s decision regarding ban on establishment of new or shifting of existing sugar mills in cotton belt of Punjab.

While talking to the journalists here on Thursday, PCGA Chairman Shahzad Ali Khan has said that the verdict of Supreme Court has endorsed the stance of PCGA as the soil of Punjab produces white gold. He added that increase in cotton production is possible through its sowing on vast lands. He said that Pakistan’s economy is dependent on agriculture and agriculture is dependent on cotton. He added that the PCGA is working on a project for the protection of agro-based economy under the slogan of Grow Cotton, Protect Economy. He said that the court decision not only supported the principled stance of the PCGA but it would also leave very positive impact on the economy of South Punjab.
