Rawalpindi-A suspected robber was killed in an exchange of fire between a police party and a gang of robbers in Wah Cantt, informed a police spokesman on Wednesday.
The deceased robber has been identified as Anwar Khan, whose body was moved to hospital for autopsy, he said. However, three other suspected robbers managed to flee from the scene while taking advantage of darkness.
According to him, the officials of Police Station Wah Saddar, on tip-off, carried out a raid at Banian Road to arrest a wanted criminal involved in dacoity and murder case, who was present there along with three of his accomplices. He said seeing the police party, the robbers started firing on cops. Police also retaliated and a robber was killed in an exchange of fire. The other three suspected robbers fled from the scene. He further shared that the robber killed during firing was the same accused involved in killing Muhammad Zaheer during a dacoity in Wah Cantt on July 23, 2021. The spokesman said CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated the efforts of police party and also ordered to arrest the fleeing robbers.
