Resources being utilised to improve drainage, sanitation in Quetta: Bazai

QUETTA - Administrator of Local Government (LG) Quetta Asmatullah Bazai on Thursday said that all available resources were being used to improve the water drainage and sanitation situation during the recent monsoon rains. He expressed these views while talking to journalists at his office. Asmatullah Bazai said that since he took charge of the administrator local government, he had been working day and night for cleaning the area and providing facilities to the people. He said that Agbarg, Nohsar, Kechibaig, Kuchlak, Balili and other areas within the district council were densely populated therefore focus was being given to maintain cleansing of drainage system during the monsoon rains. On the special instructions of Minister for Local Government Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhootani and Secretary Local Government Dostin Jamaldini, emergency had been imposed and an emergency cell had been established in the local government office which was monitoring the situation. He said that due to recent rains, there had been loss of life and property in the areas coming under the district council. Bazai said that the district council was facing difficulties due to limited funds demanding additional funds from the provincial government for cleaning of major drains. The local government was utilizing all the machinery to clean drainage systems and nullahs while staff were working day and night in the area so that people do not have any kind of complaint, he added.
