Quaid's grandson urges politicians to work for country's prosperity

RAWALPINDI - The great grandson of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Aslam Jinnah Sunday said that his family had been living in miserable condition for the last 62 years but the rulers continued to neglect them. However, he said he had no complaints against anyone in this regard as will of God is always done, he added. Aslam Jinnah also paid rich tributes to Nawa-i-Waqt for highlighting his familys maladies. He was talking to media men upon his arrival from Karachi at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIAP). On this occasion his wife Suriya Jinnah and disabled daughter Zainab Jinnah were also present. He said that in past a number of politicians and high ups made promises for his welfare but did not fulfill them so far. It is pertinent to mention here that after publishing of a column in Daily Nawa-i-Waqt Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Mal donated a house, car and monthly stipend to the family of founder of Pakistan. Aslam Jinnah urged the entire nation to come forward and play their vital role for the progress and prosperity of the country. Replying to a query, Quaids great grand-maternal son said that despite having blood relation with the founder of Pakistan neither he asked for help nor he lodged a complaint with any one ever. Earlier, Jinnah family was received by high ups of police and district administration at Rawal Lounge while given a tumultuous welcome by showering mounds of rose petals by the workers of PML-N, PPP, Jamat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf (PTI) and members of civil society. They also chanted full throated slogans of Quaid-i-Azam Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad. The family of founder of Pakistan, came to Federal Capital for the first time, are likely to meet President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani. Aslam Jinnah, grandson of Quaid-i-Azam, talking to media at the airport paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto for the cause of the country. She is still alive and lives in our hearts and minds, he remarked. He urged the entire nation to come forward and play their vital role for the progress and prosperity of the country. He said that he was very happy and could not describe his happiness in words. We should work for the progress and development of the country, he added. Aslam Jinnah, his wife and daughter Zainab came to Islamabad for the first time and are likely to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during their short stay. They would also visit the National Assembly and watch its proceedings during their stay.
