OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Mohammad Illyas, suspended national cricket selector, appeared before the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee and recorded his statement here on Tuesday. "I have recorded my statement before the committee and I am satisfied what I have stated because every word is based on reality," said Illyas after his hearing before the two-member committee comprising Sultan Rana as chairman and Shafiq Ahmad Papa as member. Illyas was issued two show-cause notices by the PCB for going to the press and attending a talk show at a private TV channel. The national selector failed to give satisfactory reply to the show-cause notices issued to him upon which the PCB suspended him and discontinued his central contract. "Now it is up to the committee to decide the issue," he said and added: "PCB chief Ijaz Butt is my benefactor and he will not go against me as he knows the matter well." To a question, Illyas replied: Upon hearing the verdict of his case he will decide whether to appeal against it or not.
