JI to participate in next polls

LAHORE Jamaat-e-Islami will participate in the next national and local government elections and it will mobilise the general public through a mass contact drive during the next three months. This was decided by the JI central election wing at its meeting at Mansoora on Tuesday with the party Secretary General Liaquat Baloch in the chair. The meeting decided to hold conventions of JI workers and sympathisers as well as the youth besides rallies and public meetings at big and small cities, towns and villages for an effective election campaign. Addressing the meeting, Liaquat Baloch said that the JI had a much better network all over the country as compared to all other parties and its workers were trying to create an awakening in the masses for getting rid of the corrupt people and the plunderers on national wealth. He was hopeful that the JI would perform much better in the next elections. The election wing chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed also spoke on the occasion. The provincial election heads Zafar Jamal Baloch, Malik Muhammad Ilyas, Dr Mumtaz Ali Memon, Bashir Ahmed Mandezai, Shabbir Ahmed Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed Khan attended the meeting.
