LAHORE - A 50-year-old woman was killed during street-fight, which erupted between the neighbours in the Makka Colony area, police said on Friday. The clash broke out between the neighbours over garbage throwing in the street.

Local residents told the police that a woman, Naila Bibi, her husband, and sons assaulted Kausar Bibi, 50, when she protested against them for throwing garbage in front of her house. They also stabbed the son of the old woman when he tried to help her mother, police investigators said.

As a result, Kausar Bibi, sustained serious injuries during the street-fight and was rushed to hospital but died in the way. Later, relatives and family members of the deceased staged a protest demonstration against the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the accused persons. The protesters blocked the traffic by putting the body in the middle of the road. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and managed to disperse the protesters, ensuring the victim family of justice. The police also have arrested the accused woman Naila Bibi while her husband and son were still at large.

Encounter: An alleged bandit was killed during ‘shootout’ in the Kahna area on Friday. Police claimed that two robbers were fleeing after snatching a bike from a citizen, Ashraf, who alerted the emergency (Rescue-15) instantly. A police team chased down the robbers and after a brief crossfire one of the bandits was killed.

However, his accomplice managed to escape from the crime scene. The police identified as the deceased as Kali Masih, a resident of Halloki. Police said that the man was wanted to them in various crimes of heinous nature.


A police constable and a youth were killed in different road mishaps on Friday. The policeman identified as Abdullah riding on a motorcycle was on his way home when a truck smashed into his two-wheeler in the Nishtar Colony area. He died on the spot. The police are investigating.

In another incident, a youth was crushed to death by a rashly-driven car in the Tibbi City area. Police said that the deceased, yet to be identified, was crossing the Circular Road when a car ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot. The body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy.


A rickshaw driver drowned in the canal in the Harbanspura area on Friday.

According to rescue workers, the man apparently lost his control over the steering of the auto-rickshaw because of over speeding and fell in the canal. The rickshaw driver did not come out of the canal.
