LAHORE: The 12th Annual Sports Festival was organised in connection with the 150 years’ (1863 to 2013) faithful services of the Pakistan Bible Society (PBS).

Food Minister Punjab Bilal Yaseen was chief guest at the occasion. He said: “A healthy society needs healthy youth which can be obtained through sports.” He also appreciated the efforts of the PBS and extended his deep concern and cooperation in future for this event.

Bishop of Lahore Diocese Rt Rev Irfan Jamil was guest of honour and said: “God’s word teaches us to complete in life and prepare yourself to win.”

PBS secretary Anthony Aijaz Lamuel thanked the guests and participants. He said these events were organised for promoting the harmony and brotherhood in the country. He also prayed for the dignity of the country. Justus Nasir and Irfan Francis arranged these events and run the opening celebration.

This year we are hoping to participate more than 200 teams in five events i.e. cricket, hard ball, cricket tape ball, basketball, football and athletics. “Besides Lahore, we also will arrange the programme in Islamabad, Multan and Sheikhupra.”–PR
