LAHORE - The Adviser to PM on Aviation Captain Shujaat Azeem, accompanied by DG CAA, is visiting civil airports on the direction of Prime Minister, said spokesman of CAA on Friday.

He said that Azeem started his first visit from Quetta International Airport where, he inspected technical and passengers related facilities.  During his visit to all areas of the airport, he directed that general facilities including lifts, escalators, air-conditioning, cleanliness and attitude of all personnel needs improvement on urgent basis to bring it at par with international standards. He also directed that runway of Quetta International Airport needs to be rebuilt on urgent basis.

Later in the evening, he visited Headquarters Civil Aviation Authority Karachi where he was introduced to all CAA Directors and DG ASF.  During his introductory speech, he categorically conveyed the desire of the Prime Minister to improve facilities at all airports.

He strongly emphasised the need of better working standards and warned that there would be zero tolerance for corruption.

In the end, he said that he needs the support and whole-hearted cooperation of all personnel of CAA to ensure that the targets set by the present Government for providing best facilities to the travelling public are ensured.

In continuation to PM directive, he visited Multan Airport on 27, June 2013 and witnessed the ongoing expansion work. 

He showed his satisfaction on the design and quality of work, however, he instructed to enhance the pace of work.  He also directed to explore the possibility of increasing number of avio-bridges keeping in view the projected increase of future traffic.  The Adviser also instructed CAA to coordinate with local administration to complete the peripherals work in time.
