LAHORE  -Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has termed Rs3 million in the supplementary budget for police as a cash prize for the department for assisting the ruling party in rigging the May 11 elections.

He made this allegation while talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly building after taking part in the supplementary budget debate on Friday.

Mehmood remarked that Rs48 million cash prize to the LDA DG for his assistance in Metro Bus Project has raised many questions regarding transparent use of public funds by the provincial government. He claimed every Pakistani knows the key role police department has played, paving way for the PML-N’s victory in the recent elections.

Commenting on the issue of loadshedding, he said the duration of power outages has increased many folds, leaving the public with no other option but to come on roads after only 20 days the government resumed it office.

Mehmood said the rulers, who claimed to have won the public mandate in the May 11 electoral process, are now backing out of the promises they had made during the election campaign.
