Fourteen passengers sustained burns, four among them critical, when a fire broke out in a passenger van near Police Checkpost on Nowshera Virkan Road here.
The van was on the way to Nowshera Virkan from Sheikhupura when the incident occurred. The injured were identified as Ismail, Asif, Allah Rakhi and Aftab who got severe injuries shifted to Lahore Hospital. According to eyewitnesses, the van driver had fixed a plastic can filled with petrol near a gas cylinder due to which the fire broke out and engulfed the van. The Sheikhupura Saddr Police are looking into the mater.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Rafaqat Ali, a resident of Vadala Dayal Shah after a quarrel with his elder brother, committed suicide by consuming wheat preservative pills.
In another incident Asif shot his uncle Ali Ahmad dead over a land dispute in village Baghyarwala in the remit of Muridke Saddr Police.
