The Punjab government has lifted the ban on the recruitments of doctors, paramedics and other staff for Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology.

Meanwhile, the medical superintendent, pharmacist and two medical officers have joined the WIC. According Ms Dr Hamid Mehmood the posts of BS-16 and below would be filled soon. Pharmacist Malik Arshad, Dr Kashif Bashir and Dr Waqar Azeem have submitted their joining reports. The recruitments process of a processor of cardiology, two senior registrar (cardiology), one radiologist, one pathologist, one deputy medical superintendent and others are underway.

A total of 177 recruitments would be made and ad for this purpose would be published soon. The vacant posts of up to BS-16, include for 40 staff nurses, 2 computer operators, one laundry manager, 3 junior clerks, 3 ECG technicians, one X-Ray technician, 2 laboratory technicians, 2 telephone operators, one electric mechanic, one store keeper, 3 drivers, 2 laboratory assistants, one plumber, 2 laboratory attendants, one tube well operator, one washer man, one sever man and four midwives among others.

Gepco Wazirabad has connected 11 KVA lines to WIC and installed a high-power generator while special arrangements are being made to provide power constantly to operation theaters.
