LAHORE : Farmers should evolve a comprehensive strategy to achieve the set cotton production target. A spokesman for the Punjab agriculture department said on Saturday the cotton cultivation target was 6 million acres while production target was more than 10 million bales. He asked growers to water the crop for the first time after 30 to 35 days of its sowing and later water the crop after an interval of 15 to 12 days.  If the cultivation is in lines, farmers should water the crop for the first time after 2 to 3 days of its sowing and later with a gap of 6 to 9 days. The variety cultivated in lining with the help of drill should be given first water after 40 to 30 days of its sowing.
