The Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday remanded four kidnappers-cum-killers of a newlywed love marriage couple into police custody for a week. The accused said to be of the girls family kidnapped and beheaded the newlywed couple as ‘punishment’ for contracting love marriage on Friday.
Daska DSP Rana Zahid told the media that the Daska Police had arrested four accused including Ghulam Rasul, Bashiran Bib, Iqbal Hassan and Shamshad nominated in the FIR. The police produced the accused in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Gujranwala and sought their physical remand. At which the ATC granted their week-long physical remand till July 4, 2014.
Meanwhile, Sialkot DPO Muhammad Gohar Nafees told the newsmen that fifth nominated accused Dilshad (father of the slain girl) was yet to be arrested. The police have also recovered the weapon, the sharp-edged iron chopper used in the crime, the DPO added.
He cleared that all the accused belonged to the slain girl’s family including her father, mother, uncles and grandfather.
The atmosphere remained mourning in village Satrah, as shocked locals had zipped their lips and no one was ready to speak about the incident.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken serious notice of the ghastly double murder. He has sought detailed report from the Punjab IG Police within 24 hours, in this regard.
According to FIR (No. 269/2014) lodged at the Satrah Police Station under sections 148, 149, 302 PPC and 7-ATA, village Hassanabad-Sialkot based youth Sajjad Ahmed (27) had contracted love marriage with village Satrah-Daska based girl Mafia Bibi (23) on June 18, 2014 after their long love affair. After a week of their marriage, they were living in their home at village Hassanabad-Sialkot, when seven armed accused including Dilshad alias Kulla (girl’s real father), Bashiran Bibi (girl’s real mother), Shamshad (girl’s uncle), Iqbal Hassan alias Pup (girl’s uncle) and Ghulam Rasul (girl’s grandfather Dada) and two unknown armed accused kidnapped them and took them to their Dera in village Satrah.
The accused bound the couple hand and foot and chopped off their heads turn by turn. The accused beheaded them with sharp-edged choppers as a “punishment” for love-marriage.
