ISLAMABAD- On directives of ministry of petroleum, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) kicked off crackdown against natural gas thefts in federal areas.

FIA and SNGPL teams have been formed to raid in various areas of federal capital. Strict action against illegal connections, gas thefts and defaulters would be taken during the crackdown.

FIA and Sui company teams raided in various suburb areas of federal capital including Saray Kharbooza, Bilal Colony and Muhalla Osmania.

Many illegal connections were disconnected while meters of defaulters were removed by teams. FIR was registered against those involved in gas theft while some were arrested from their houses in these areas.

Some miscreants involved in gas theft fled from scene. Officials said that 107 cases of gas theft and illegal connections were registered on the first day of crackdown. Millions of rupees can be added to national treasure during this crackdown, officials concluded.
