SUKKUR: Akkhtar Abbasi, who contested the polls from the NA-198 constituency during last year's general election as an independent candidate, has been shot dead in Sukkur.

The police stated that the incident happened in the Regent Colony where unknown assailants gunned him down. Sources reveal a bullet to the head resulted in Abbasi’s demise.

According to the police, the family of the deceased has not contacted them for legal action over the murder; however they have registered a case and started an investigation on the matter.
