KASUR-The district administration and the police failed to ensure a ban imposed on bathing in canals and rivers as people continue to throng canals to escape excessive loadshedding and scorching heat.
According to the report of a survey conducted by this correspondent, continue to flock to BRB, Mustafabad, Raja Jang, BS-Link, Head Balloki canals to beat the scorching heat. The ban on bathing in canals turned out to be a mockery as a large of people not only bathing in these canals but some drowning incidents also have happened. But the district administration has turned a blind eye to the situation. Besides, Tikki, Pakoras and other edibles are overtly being sold at the bank of canals, violating sanctity of the holy month of Ramazan.
People, on the other hand, said that they are compelled to go to the canals as Lesco has been conducting excessive loadshedding in the extreme heat. “The public has virtually been left with no choice but to visit canals and bath there to escape the scorching weather,” some visitor Raja Jang canal pointed out. They were of the view that if the government cannot ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity in extremely hot weather why people are being restrained from visiting canals.
TWO DEAD SEPARATELY: A minor girl was crushed to death on Pirwala Road and a man shot dead over old enmity in Dhana Chak/12 here the other day.
According to police, a minor girl identified as Fakhr, was standing outside her house on Pirwala Road when a tractor-trolley crushed her to death. The Saddr police are investigating the incident.
On the other hand, a man was shot dead over old enmity in Dhana Chak/12. Muhammad Asif, brother of the deceased, told the police that he and his brother Qasim Ali were at home when the accused Ghulam Qadir, along with 13 accomplices, barged into the house and opened fire on his brother, killing him on the spot. The accused also harassed the family members. The Pattoki Saddr Police registered a case and started investigation.
