ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) president Zafar Bakhtawri has offered Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) all-out support of traders community in order to provide maximum facilities to the youngsters of twin cities.
He extended this offer during the ceremony hosted at the ICCI in honour of Director General PSB Amir Hamza Gilani on Thursday, while Deputy DG Aga Amjedullah was also present on the occasion.
Zafar said at the time when no international team was willing to tour Pakistan, they arranged Indian handicapped cricket team’s visit to Pakistan. “We use cricket diplomacy which resulted in resumption of bilateral cricketing ties between Pakistan and India last year.”
Amir Hamza Gilani appreciated chambers role and asked them to constitute a committee and send proposal in writing. They would recommend that to the government and ensure their best possible support to biding talent of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Speaking at the occasion, ICCI Sports Committee head Saeed Ahmed Bhatti said: “The sports committee is helping the deserving players in all fields, we have helped Pakistan Cricket Association for Physically Handicapped (PCAPH) financially in hosting the Indian handicapped last year. We have also helped them during the Afghanistan handicapped team’s visit and also assisted the PCAPH for the return leg tour of India. We are working closely with special Olympics in Islamabad chapter and providing them best available resources.” Nasir Mehmood Ch said: “We will soon hold a disabled snooker championship at PSB snooker lounge and present handsome prizes to the people who deserve more respect.”
