Irritated traders threaten to besiege govt office

SADIQABAD - A tehsil traders’ body here threatened that the local businessmen and common public would lay a siege to the Tehsil Council Sadiqabad office if the administration remains failed to take steps to remove encroachments, heaps of garbage lying at every nook and corner of the tehsil and to improve the sewerage system and open the clogged drains.
However, the administrator admitted that because of official busyness, he could not pay proper attention to these issues and could not properly discharge his duties, causing deterioration of the situation and resultantly increasing public complaints. The administration also assured the Anjuman Tajran Sadiqabad office-bearers of early improvement in the situation.
Led by Anjuman President Khalid Saleem, a traders’ delegation met with Assistant Commissioner/Administrator Abdul Jabbar. The delegation consisted of Mian Ehsanul Haq, Sadiq Javed, Riazul Hassan, Habib Sultan, Abdul Khaliq, M Aslam, Nasir Iqbal, Abdul Aziz, Meraj Muhammad, Naeem, Mehmood, Asif and Arshad. On the occasion, Tehsil Municipal Officer Zakir Masood, Executive Engineer Ayyaz Andum and Land Officer Farooq Haider were also present.
The Anjuman president told the AC that the Tehsil Council had completely failed to resolve the people’s problems as heaps of garbage could be seen every where and the tehsil drains had been clogged therefore the sewer water has accumulated on the roads and streets. He further remonstrated with the AC about encroachments and the open manholes, which are causing accidents and posing life threat to the local people.
However, he added, the council personnel have failed to fix these problems adding to the people’s grievances. The delegation head warned that if the administration remains failed to resolve these problems, the local traders and the common public would lay a siege to the office. In respond, the AC/administration assured the traders’ delegation of resolving these problems within seven days. The AC further pledged that he himself would visit Sadiqabad and the adjoining areas of the tehsil on daily basis and review the steps being taken to address these grievances. The administrator said that he had warned the officials concerned to solve the public problems within one week.
He said that a strict action would be taken against the negligent personnel.
