KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Hussain Mehanti has appealed to the Karachiites to reject the terrorists and extortionists by their power of vote in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a meeting of the JI sub-organisations at Idara-e-Noor Haq on Thursday, he said that the JI would not allow anyone to hijack the electoral process, adding the elections will prove the base of revolution.

“We should have to come forward and play our due role to foster awareness among the people for establishing a society which reflects the feelings and sentiments of the people,” he added.

Mehanti said that the JI had come into action and would prefer seat adjustment instead of electoral alliance.

He stressed upon door-to-door election campaign in which the JI leaders and workers contact to the people and agree them to vote for the honest and loyal leadership.

“The nation has annoyed from poverty, inflation, unemployment, lawlessness, extortion and target killing adding JI raised its voice against these injustice and supremacy of the United States,” he added.

He further said that the Karachi was the city of those who sacrificed their lives for the country and JI would not allow anyone to hijack the City and its people. JI Karachi leader Naseem Siddiqui chaired the meeting in the attendance of members Islami Jamiat Talba, Shabab Milli, Human Rights Network, Accountant Forum, Pakistan Business Forum, Jamiat Talba Arabia, Islami Nizamat Taleem, Al-Khidmat Welfare Society, Engineers Forum, Small traders, National Labour Federation.

Earlier on Thursday JI leaders Nasrullah Shajih and Engineer Abdul Aziz along with a large number of JI workers have filed the nomination papers for the national and provincial assembly includes NA-252 and PS-116. While JI leader Abdul Aziz filed nomination paper for the PS-110, 112 and 113.

Talking to press and media, Shajih said that the JI would file nomination papers from all the constituencies of the city.

Shajih appealed to the people to support JI to eliminate target killing, extortion and street crimes from the city.

Answering a question, he said that the discussion regarding the seat adjustment was being continued with PML-N, PTI, JUI-F, JUP, ST and others parties, however, he denied any discussion with MQM in this regard.

He said that the party was not satisfied with the voters’ verification process although the leadership had decided to participate in the elections, adding we reject the new delimitation carried out by Election Commission of Pakistan.
