ISLAMABAD – The annual prize distribution ceremony was held in the college auditorium at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College H-8 on Thursday.

The ceremony was presided over by Principal Prof. Kazim Hussain whereas the guests on this occasion were Prof. Raja Abdul Hafeez, Principal Islamabad Model Postgraduate Commerce College H-8/4, Prof. Mumtaz Ali, Principal Islamabad Model College for Boys H-9, Prof. Rasheed Ahmed Sodhi, Principal Islamabad Model College for Boys, Sihala, and Prof. Ali Yar, Principal Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-10/4. The annual prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Prof. Izhar-ul-Hassan Bokhari and coordinated by Prof. Muhammad Akram and Prof. Ahmed Iqbal Naqvi. Prof. Dr. Wasim Ahmed Khan actively played his part in making this event successful. A large number of students and teachers attended the ceremony.

In his remarks on the occasion, Prof. Izhar-ul-Hassan Bokhari said that H-8 Post-Graduate College has an excellent history as its performance in the academic as well as co-curricular activities. He outlined the achievements of the students of H-8 college on the local, regional, and the national level.

Prof. Raja Abdul Hafeez, guest on the occasion said that it was, indeed, because of the vibrant and diligent personality of Principal Prof. Kazim hussain that the college has earned distinctions in numerous fields ranging from academic to co-curricular activities, and the development in the infrastructure of the college. Prof. Ali Yar Principal Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-10/4 eulogized the excellent performance effectuated by Principal Kazim Hussain.

Prof. Kazim Hussain, in his presidential address, highlighted the importance of sports, athletics, and co-curricular activities in shaping up the healthy and fine personalities of students. He emphasized the fact that sports athletics and co-curricular activities help students display their hidden talent and prepare themselves as better human beings. Sports and co-curricular activities teach us patience, passion of sacrifice, and selflessness.

He said that the youth of Pakistan is highly talented, and now it is part of the teachers that they step forward and sharpen the faculties of head and heart of their students.

He appreciated Faran Bajwa, the student of MA English Final year in every aspect of college life. He said that he is one of those students who are a pride of their teachers.

The students were given away prizes for various categories of competitions. The name of the first position holders and their categories of competitions are given as under: Faran Bajwa, M.A English Part-II, secured 1st position in Milli Naghma, Muhammad Najib Qureshi won the 1st prize in the Husn-e-Qirat competition, Ahmed Ali B.A 3rd year grabbed 1st position in the Naat competition. Arfa Malik M.A English Part-II received a certificate for performing as host in various in-house programmes.

In sports and athletics, too, many awards were given to the students. Shoukat Khan B.Com-II won the 1st prize in a 100-meter race, Haroon-ur-Rashid won 1st prize in 200-meter race, Abdul Hafeez B.A final year snatched 1st prize in the long jump competition, Ghazanfar Abbas F.Sc Pre-Medical Part-I bagged 1st prize in Javelin throw, Munir Khan Tareen got 1st prize in shot-put throw, Junaid Ishaq B.Com-II got 1st prize in Discuss-throw and he was declared the best athlete of the year also, whereas Rana Moiz-ur-Rehman won the 1st prize in 8000-meter race, Munir Khan Tareen and his team got 1st prize in the Kabaddi match.

The girls of M.A English and M.Sc Geography Departments did not remain behind the boys. In certain athletic competitions, the girls won the following positions:  in the target shooting Raheela MSc Geograpy got 1st prize, Zunnaira student of the same department won 1st prize in musical chair competition. Hina won the 50-meter race.
