PPP caravans to leave for Larkana on April 2

ZAB’s death anniversary

Lahore - The PPP caravans would leave for Ghari Khuda Bux from Lahore on April 2, to attend the death anniversary of party founder Z.A Bhutto falling on April 4.
Addressing a meeting of party’s Kissan Wing here, Manzoor Wattoo said that the PPP Punjab leadership and workers will travel to the place in great numbers to pay rich tributes to their leader for his exceptional services for the cause of the nation and the poor.
In his opening statement, Wattoo paid tributes to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for his services to the nation. He said Bhutto fought for the rights of the small farmers by introducing far reaching reforms in the agriculture sector.
Hundreds of thousand acres of state land further acquired under the land reforms were distributed among the harris (landless farmers) that qualitatively changed their life, he added.
He said that the federation of Pakistan owed a lot to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who gave unanimous constitution of 1973 to the nation, adding, that federation of Pakistan was intact today only because of the Constitution.
He recalled that the successive dictators played havoc with the Constitution but the Constitution survived and was restored in original form through the 18th Amendment brought under the PPP led previous democratic government.
He mentioned with heavy heart that the hanging of Bhutto by Zia-ul-Haq put the country on the trajectory of extremism and thus his execution played a major role in pushing the country in the Afghan war. The same war has engulfed the whole country and Pakistan at present has ironically emerged as “epicenter of terrorism”, he stated with regret.
He said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto also made the defence of the country impregnable by making it 7th atomic power of the world.
The leaders of the Kissan Wing expressed their deepest gratitude to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for what they said lifting them from poverty to lead a dignified life.
They assured the provincial President that farmers will not lag behind in taking part in the anniversary in somber and humble manner as a gesture of deepest respect for their beloved leader.
