BEL Santa Barbara - Katy Perry feels like she is a ‘mom’ to her supporters. The 30-year-old singer attended the premiere of her new concert movie Katy Perry : The Prismatic World Tour on Thursday. It gave the star the chance to open up about her relationship with her followers, who are nicknamed KatyCats.

‘We treat each other pretty equally and I’m their mom,’ she laughed according to Just Jared. ‘I’m their mom! I have a lot of kids.’ Katy first rose to fame with her 2008 single I Kissed a Girl. Since then she has gone on to release two further albums and toured the world a number of times to see her fans. The singer clearly adores them, and won’t have a bad word said against them. ‘They’re not crazy! Listen, the fandoms are fabulous and they are different in their own way, but I believe that with my audience and the people that have thoroughly enjoyed my music over the years, we have a very intimate, genuine, authentic connection,’ she continued. ‘I think that’s what has kept us connected throughout all this time because I remember them, they remember me.’ The Prismatic World Tour began in March last year in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After performing in the UK, different legs of the show have taken in Europe, the United States and Australia. Despite the documentary being released, Katy still has a further run of shows taking place this year in Asia and Europe before finishing in May. The Firework singer clearly enjoyed the premiere, taking to Twitter to update her fans. ‘About to get thrown out of my own premiere for snapping selfies (sic)’ she wrote alongside a photograph of herself in front of the big screen.
