LAHORE: The Election Tribunal on Saturday directed Khawaja Saad Rafique of PML-N to record his statement on the next hearing in alleged matter of rigging in NA-125.

As the proceedings commenced, the counsel of Khawaja Saad Rafiq told the judge that his client was unable to appear due to his personal engagements. He sought some time on his behalf.

The judge accepted the plea and adjourned the case proceedings till March 30, with directions to Khawaja Saad Rafique to appear in the court and record his statement. Hamid Khan, the runner-up candidate of PTI had challenged his victory saying that massive rigging was done in the constituency from where he was elected as member of the National Assembly. He pleaded the court to declare his victory null and void and order the authorities concerned for re-election in the constituency concerned.–Staff Reporter
