LAHORE - The City received light rain on Friday, providing some respite to the Lahorites from the heatwave persisting for the last couple of weeks. Lahore received 03 mm rain. The Lahorites took a sigh of relief as dust raising winds, scattered light rain and overcast conditions caused considerable decrease in the mercury level. Maximum temperature in the City decreased by 5.5 degree Celsius, ending up at 39 C on Friday. Minimum temperature in the City was recorded 31 C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 39 percent, which increased to 64 percent in the evening. According to the experts, westerly wave still persists over extreme upper parts of the country. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most parts of the country including the City during the next 24 hours. However, rains are expected at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. On Friday, Kotli and Rawlakot received 43 mm rain, Sialkot 19 mm, Murree and Skardu 12 mm each, Bunji 10 mm, Jhelum and Islamabad 07 mm each, Astore 06 mm while Chilas received traces of rain.
