LAHORE - On the directions of District Coordination Officer Noor ul Amin Mengal, the food inspectors on Monday checked the food samples of 167 hotels, marriage halls, sweets and bakers and other shops.

They took 54 food samples and sent them to laboratory for further checking. Food inspectors imposed fine Rs22,500 for selling unhygienic and substandard food items.

Meanwhile, the price control magistrates inspected 366 shops and challaned 88 shopkeepers for selling essential items on higher prices.

They got registered 14 FIRs and arrested 14 profiteers during raids besides imposing Rs75,700 fine.

Further, teams of different towns conducted raid against marriage halls on the violation of one dish and timings. Two cases under Marriage Act were registered in this regard; one at Data Ganj Bakhsh Town; the other at Shalimar Town.
