Need for registration of women’s votes stressed

KHAIRPUR TAMEWALI - Cholistan Development Council (CDC) Director Farooq Khan has underlined the need for ensuring the registration of all females who fulfil the age limit for vote.
It has been reported that a large number of women of Cholistan, Bahawalpur division, Balochistan, Fata and some other remote areas of the country are still missing from the voters lists due to the non-availability of the computerized national identity cards.
The CDC director demanded the Election Commission to take notice of the “anomalies” and order Nadra to issue CNICs to all the eligible candidates, especially the women.
Addressing a meeting of the CDCP here on Monday, he pointed out that women were 52% of the population and lamented that in some parts of the country the women were not allowed to cast their votes which was against the basic rights. Farooq Khan appreciated the process of computerized voters lists and demanded that the whole process should be transparent to make it purposeful for national cause.
