BUREWALA - Because of more than 22-hour unscheduled loadshedding, the irked people including traders, social and political workers took control of the local grid station, suspended the power supply to other cities and restored it to the local areas on Monday.

Vehari Anjuman Tajran President Muhammad Jameel Bhatti, PML-N Burewala City President Ghulam Rasool Zaidi and other local traders’ representatives had given 72-hour deadline to the Mepco authorities to end unscheduled loadshedding in the area.

As the deadline expired on Monday, Mr Jameel and Ghulam Rasool, Anjuman Sanatkaran President Muhammad Saghir Ramay, PML-N Youth Wing President Manzoor Barkat Mariwala, Anjuman Arhatian Fruit and Vegetable Market Burewala President Haji Muhammad Ashiq and other traders took control of the 132 KV grid station. They suspended the power supply to Kamalia, Arifwala, Chichawatni and Sheikh Fazal and restored it to local areas.

They also warned the Mepco staff that they would not allow them to carry out unscheduled loadshedding. Later, DSP Mazhar Ahmad and Mepco Burewala Deputy Manager Muhammad Ashfaq Khan asked the protesters for dialogues but traders refused and said that they will hold dialogue with NPCC officials.

However the traders’ leader held talks with NPCC Engineer Muhammad Husnain on phone. The engineer assured him of 11 to 14 hours scheduled loadshedding and said that the local Mepco officials will cooperate with the locals. Resultantly, the protesters dispersed.
