KURRAM AGENCY – Armed men on Monday attacked a passenger bus carrying members of Shia community in Charkhel area of Kurram Agency killing at least three and injuring nine others. As per details, a group of armed men ambushed a bus carrying passengers from Parachinar to Peshawar.

When it reached Charkhel area, insurgents boarding a car hurled hand-grenades at the bus and also opened fire at the passengers.

Resultantly, two passengers identified as Iftikhar Hussain and Sultan Hussain and driver of the bus Abid Hussain died on the spot, while nine other passengers including two women sustained injuries.

The injured were identified as Dildar Hussain, Shoaib Ali, Sibtain Hussain, Ihsan Ali, Sahib Ali and Jamshed Hussain. The injured were rushed to local hospitals while 2 injured in critical condition were shifted to Peshawar.

Those killed or injured belonged to Shia community of Turi Bangash and Hazara tribes of Kurram Agency.

According to political agent of Kurram Agency, Shahib Ali Shah, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation and apprehended a suspect recovering explosives from his possession.
