TTP militant held in raid

KARACHI – Law-enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested five suspects, including a militant of banned organisation, from different areas of the City on Monday.Pak Colony Police claimed to have arrested a militant of the banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan who were involved in killing four policemen. SSP West Amir Farooqui said that the police party conducted raid in Jehanabad area. After brief encounter, they arrested a man namely Muhammad Yaseen Mehsud alias Naib Commando and recovered two 9MM pistols from their possession. He informed that during interrogation he confessed his involvement in the murders of four police men, including SI Sabtain and constable Sajid in Manghopir, constable Noor Islam in Pirabad and head constable Nadeem Abbasi. The accused was also involved in riots in Kati Pahari and its surrounding areas during ethnic violence. Further investigation was underway.Separately, Special Investigation Unit, Anti Extortion Cell claimed to have arrested two extortionists from Kharadar area. The SIU official said that police party conducted raid in Jodia Bazaar Gao Gali Kharadar area, on a tip-off, and arrested two extortionists Israr Hussain and Mumtaz Ali and recovered two pistols from their possession. SSP Khurram Waris said that the accused was working in a private security company. They demanded Rs5 million ransom from Muhammad Qasim, owner of Momin Hotel in Kharadar near Achi Qabar. He further informed that accused were involved in several cases of extortion and kidnapping for ransom. Further investigation was in process.In another incident, heavy contingent of rangers conducted a raid in Muslim Town, North Karachi. During targeted operation, they sealed all the entrance and exit areas. They had detained two suspects and recovered weapon from their possession. Later the accused were shifted to an unknown place for further investigation.
