TANK - Dozens of armed militants attacked Mulazi Police Station with heavy and light arms, which the police officials gallantly retaliated to, police said while talking to media on Monday.

DPO Tank and police sources said it was about 2:00 am when dozens of unidentified militants attacked the police station in Mulazai, a sub-town in the north west of Tank.

They said the assailants were armed with latest weapons, adding that building of the targeted police station was hit with hand grenades, rockets and gunshots due to which it was partially damaged.

They said the police retaliated the attackers after getting Pakistan Army reinforcement from Tank.

They said the fire exchange continued for about 45 minutes. Banned TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan claimed the responsibility for the predawn attack on police station.

Meanwhile, the activists of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan also attempted to blow up the vehicle of DSP (rural) Faridullah Khan with IED, adding that the attack left two police constables - Fayaz and Samiullah - injured. The injured police officials were shifted to DI Khan for medical cover, police said.

The police and Pak-army jointly conducted search operations in the area immediately after the incident but no arrest could be made.

Meanwhile, a stray bullet injured a woman - Ruqayya Bibi - in surrounding locality of Mulazai.
