LAHORE - The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will carry out widening and improvement of four-kilometer long road from Neelum Block Allama Iqbal Town to Multan Road at a cost of Rs142.33 million within a period of four months for the daily benefit of almost 50,000 vehicles.

It will also construct a community centre at a three-kanal piece of land in Garden Town at a cost of Rs183.662 million, within a period of eight months.

These decisions were taken in the Governing Body meeting of the LDA held here on Monday, which was chaired by District Coordination Officer and LDA Chairman Noor-ul-Amin Mengal. The meeting was attended by LDA Vice-Chairman Aamir Asgher Dar, LDA Director General Ahad Cheema, WASA Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal, Chief Town Planner Muhammad Akram, LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and representatives of the provincial local government, housing and finance departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the CDGL.

The meeting also granted administrative approval amounting to Rs150.66 million for installation of 250 watt sodium lights on 100-120 and 150 feet wide main roads of LDA Avenue-I . Provision of street lights would facilitate the watch and ward to the scheme as well as the residents.

The meeting also approved development of infrastructure in Block-D of newly cleaned area in LDA Avenue-I at an estimated cost of Rs52.897 million within a time period of three months. The LDA will also spend Rs17.5 million for reconstruction of road linking LDA Avenue-I with Jubilee Town.

The meeting also decided to levy parking fee at the rate of Rs30 per car for 24 hours instead of incremental charges on hourly basis for the vehicles being parked in the D-Point Car Parking Plaza at Shah Aalmi.

PETROL PUMPS SITES AUCTIONED: The three petrol pumps sites of the Lahore Development Authority were auctioned against a sum of Rs41.8 million for a period of three years on Monday. 

The auction of these plots was held in at the LDA Community Center 239-A New Muslim Town which was supervised by LDA Vice-Chairman Aamar Asghar Dar and members of the caution committee.

Extension in contract: The LDA has granted extension in contract appointment period of 23 assistant directors of various cadres for further three years starting from June 6, 2012.

They include six assistant directors of General Cadre namely Khurram Yaqoob, Habiba Aslam, Waseem Zafar, Wajahat Ali, Humaira Sharif, and Ali Bin Sohail. Four assistant directors working in the Legal Directorate namely Aslam Waseem, Muhammad Ahsan Latif, Abdul Razzaq and Muhammad Imran; 10 assistant directors of Town Planning Wing namely Saleha Shahid, Siddiqa Amin, Bushra Khalid, Ali Nusrat, Sidra Tabassum, Hina Yousaf, Faiza Ashraf, Ayesha Nazir, Nadia Munir and Azhar Ali; three assistant directors of Accounts Directorate namely Kashif Imran, Bisma Asif and Azam Hussain.

Meanwhile, Faisal Shafique and Shojat Munir, the assistant directors (Civil Engineering), LDA on contract basis, presently working in Chief Engineer U D Wing Cell, have been transferred to TEPA, LDA with immediate effect for further adjustment.

Muhammad Riaz Saadi, LDA Assistant Director Law, currently working in Directorate of Land Development-III has been entrusted with the additional charge of Assistant Director Law of LAC-I and LAC-II Branch. Waqas Baig, the LDA Assistant Director Law, on contract basis currently working in Directorate of Land Development-IV has been entrusted with the additional charge of Assistant Director Law.
