Islamabad- Shrine of sufi saint Bari Imam has been shut for indefinite period for devotees after a bomb was recovered nearby.
A large number of police and rangers personnel have been deployed as the shrine faces terror threats. Over two kg explosives were recovered near mausoleum of Bari Imam in Islamabad.
According to sources, the explosives were found inside an under construction building located near the tomb of Shah Abdul Latif Kazmi commonly known as Bari Imam. He is the patron saint of Islamabad and the Pothohar region.
Officials said Bomb Disposal Squad was called which checked the explosive material weighting over two kg. Wires were found connected with the bomb. It has been seized by sensitive agencies, officials said. Dozens of people were killed and over hundred wounded in powerful blast in Bari Imam shrine back in May 2005.
