Opp plans walkout from joint sitting

ISLAMABAD- Enraged with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for not showing up at Senate despite required by rules, the opposition has chalked out a plan to vent their anger at President Mamnoon Hussain by staging a walkout when he would address the joint sitting of Parliament on June 2.
Lawmakers in Senate feel disappointed that the premier has not attended a single session of the upper house despite amendment in the rules of procedure of the House that binds him to visit Senate once a week.
The Nation learnt Wednesday that opposition Awami National Party (ANP) has already finalized its plan to stage walkout from the joint sitting.
Visibly perturbed by the failure of Prime Minister who under the 18th amendment is answerable to both houses of Parliament, the ANP is in contact with other opposition parties to stage a walkout from the joint sitting.
The sources said ANP had already talked to senior lawmakers in Senate for joining them adding that joint opposition was likely to vent their anger at the absence of the premier from upper house of parliament.
