The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Monday recovered Rs14.5 million cash and a Rs11 million car allegedly owned by former LDA DG Ahad Cheema.  Ahad Cheema was nabbed on charges of misuse of authority with criminal intent and processing and awarding Rs14 billion Ashiana housing scheme contract to Lahore CASA Developers. Last week, an accountability court had sent him to jail on 15-day judicial remand in the scam. Previously, the NAB had informed the court that the Punjab government had already developed Ashiana scheme. However, changes were made in the scheme just to sponsor Paragon City. Moreover, the LDA awarded the contract in violation of given rules and regulations. NAB inquiry revealed that Bismillah Engineering Services Company (a major shareholder of JV titled Lahore CASA Developers) was a proxy firm working on behalf of Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd.  Ahad allegedly received graft in the form of a 32-kanal land worth Rs30.09 million from the owners of Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd.–Staff Reporter
