DSP among 9 killed in Swat

SWAT - As least nine persons, including a Deputy Superintend of Police, have been killed in different incidents of violence in Swat District, reports said Friday. According to the sources, first incident took place in Kanjo area of Kabal when some armed persons entered the house of Akbar Khan and fired indiscriminately at the members of his family. As a result of the tragic incident, seven persons, including Akbar Khan, his wife, his son Khurshed and his two daughters, were killed. The culprits successfully managed to flee from the place of the incident after committing the crime. The family of Akbar Khan had recently shifted from Dir District to Swat District. Moreover, in the second incident some unknown militants gunned down Deputy Superintend of Police Abdul Wadood in Green Chowk area of Mingora. DSP Abdul Wadood was serving in the Investigation Wing of Buner Police. In another incident, a truck driver namely Mohammad Iqbal, resident of Mandi Bahauddin, was killed in security forces' firing. He was carrying goods to Mingora in his truck. Meanwhile, security forces continued targeting militants suspected hideouts in Chaparyal area of Matta. A number of militants' houses and hideouts were damaged in the shelling. However no causality has been reported so far.
