One of my friends who belongs to lower class has passed the entry test for a medical university is very much anxious about his institutional admission and tuition fee he has to pay, as universities of Pakistan like many other countries regularly increase their admission and tuition fee to generate their resources. He must have at least fifty thousand rupees to start with his higher studies. One may argue, how a poor family who is already struggling to eke out an existence, craving for sugar, crying for clothes and dying of dengue, can take out such a huge amount for education. Financial advisors and economists working for government are of view that they can deal with economy by cutting the funds of sectors like education. This speak volumes about the importance the government attaches towards education. DR. SUNIL CHOHAN, Jamshoro, November 28.
