PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has said the war on terro can be won with the help of education.

"We have people like Malala Yousafzai who fought with pen against terrorism and Maria Torpakai who has carved out a niche for her in Squash internationally.  We are also actively engaged to bring our youth both of the province and FATA in playgrounds and fight terrorism through promotion of sports and education," he said.

The government, he added, is putting hectic efforts in making all this possible and the world should also come forward and do more for us in further cementing our efforts in this respect.

Addressing as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the International Workshop of Sports Journalists held under the auspices of Sports Writers Federation of Pakistan at Lahore, the governor desired that the youth should forward ahead with the slogan, "no to terrorism, yes to sports" and by all means they need to be in fields of sports rather in battle fields.

The ceremony besides a large number of sports journalists and prominent figures hailing from the fields of journalism and sports within the country, was also attended by sports writers from various friendly countries of Asia and Middle East.

Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Special Assistant to Chief Minister, Faisal Alqanai, President of Asian Sports Press Union; Shahid Sheikh, President, Pakistan Sports Writers Federation and Amjad Aziz Malik, Secretary General of the organisation also addressed on the occasion.  The event coincided with launching of the book "Peshawar to Sochi Via Istambol"; a travelogue by Amjad Aziz Malik and the governor also appreciated efforts of Amjad Aziz Malik for successfully holding the workshop.
